Product engineering
Web, desktop and mobile applications with clean architecture, automated tests and clear documentation.
Software company · Colombia
We design and build software for people and businesses — secure, local-first and crafted with care. And we share much of it with the world as free software.
What we do
From the first idea to the release, we design and engineer products that are fast, secure and a pleasure to use.
Web, desktop and mobile applications with clean architecture, automated tests and clear documentation.
Interfaces with intention: accessible, consistent and inspired by the best of macOS.
Linux-first software and packaging, and guidance on adopting open source safely in your organisation.
Local-first architectures, authorised connections and data that stays where it belongs.
Moon Open Source
Part of what we build belongs to everyone. Read the code, file an issue, send an improvement.
Turn your Android phone into a webcam and microphone for your computer — over Wi-Fi or USB, recognised by OBS, Discord, Zoom and Meet as a real camera, with noise suppression and private by design.
A modern, space-themed programming language with object-oriented programming, a VS Code extension and installers for Linux, Windows and macOS.
A Linux-first game platform that brings Windows, Android and native Linux games together through the runtimes you already trust.
An infinite canvas for UML diagrams and flowcharts, with sign-in and saving to Google Drive.
Syntax highlighting, project tools and a multi-platform installation hub (APT, PowerShell and Homebrew) for the Star language.
Principles
Each of our values comes from something the moon has been doing for four billion years.
We work in the open and say clearly what our software does — and what it does not do.
The full disc is always there, even in shadow.
Local-first by default. No telemetry, no cloud we don't need, no dark patterns.
The moon keeps watch at night, without watching you.
Tests, documentation, accessibility and design are part of the product, not extras.
Its phases are so precise you can set a calendar by them.
Friendly software in English and Spanish, written for people who are still learning, too.
Moonlight lets you see without blinding you.
We build on the work of others, credit it, and give back to free software.
It has no light of its own: it reflects the sun's and shares it.
We maintain what we ship. Long-term care over short-term hype.
Whatever its phase, the moon always comes back.
Our story
In the north, the crescent moon stands upright. In Colombia, close to the equator, it lies on its back — horns up, like a cradle, like a smile. That smiling crescent is our logo.
Look closer and the rest of the moon is still there, glowing softly with earthshine. Nothing is hidden. That full circle is our promise: open code, honest software, and a whole that holds together.
The moon makes no light of its own; it reflects the sun's and shares it with everyone. Free software works the same way — and so do we.
Mission
Build reliable, secure software that respects people — and share as much of it as we can as free software that anyone can audit, improve and reuse.
Vision
By 2030, to be a Latin American reference for trustworthy, beautifully crafted software — proving from Colombia that technology can be open, secure and worthy of trust.
How we build
Beautiful on the outside, careful on the inside. These are the habits behind every release.
Automated tests and continuous integration on every change.
Clear docs and decision records, in English and Spanish.
Interfaces inspired by the best of macOS, built for Linux first.
Readable contrast, keyboard support and reduced-motion respect.
Data stays on your devices. Connections are local and authorised.
Apache-2.0 for code, SIL OFL for our fonts — yours to use and study.
Meet Lino
Lino is an olinguito, a small night animal from the cloud forests of the Colombian Andes. Science only described it in 2013 — specimens had sat in museums for decades, mislabelled, until someone curious looked closely.
He comes out when the moon does, he is curious and patient, and his name carries a wink: o-LIN-guito, like Linux.
Founder
Founder · Software engineer
I'm a software engineer from Colombia. I build desktop tools for Linux, games with Unity, and — for fun — programming languages.
I started Moon Technologies with a simple conviction: free software made in Latin America can be as polished, careful and trustworthy as anything in the world. Everything we make is built in the open, tested, documented — and made with love.
